Senior Clinical Oncology Consultant
Dr James Wylie is a Senior Clinical Oncology Consultant at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, where he has served as a consultant since 1999. With more than two decades of experience, he has extensive expertise across the full spectrum of modern radiotherapy techniques, including advanced external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and proton beam therapy.
Dr Wylie’s principal clinical focus has been the treatment of soft tissue and bone tumours and urological cancers. He has been an author on numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact medical journals and has co-written several book chapters on sarcoma management, reflecting his recognised expertise in this field.
He contributed to the 2023 national guidelines on radiotherapy for benign conditions published by the Royal College of Radiologists and served as a Senior Examiner for the College between 2013 and 2019.
Building on his specialist knowledge of soft tissue disease, Dr Wylie has developed a particular interest in the use of radiotherapy for benign conditions. He has significant experience in treating benign tumours and fibroproliferative disorders, most commonly Dupuytren’s disease. Over the past decade, he has treated patients from across the UK for benign conditions affecting the hand, foot, and hip, offering expert, evidence-based care in this highly specialised area of radiotherapy.
